DCY Swim Team Posts 150 Personal Bests in Jingle Bell Meet

The Door County YMCA (DCY) swim team won its seventh consecutive Jingle Bell Meet Dec. 15, topping the competition by more than 800 points.

The meet attracted 10 teams and more than 330 swimmers from YMCAs in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. The 200 medley relay team of Ryan Felhofer, Zone Wienke, Finn Conley and Jack Monfils broke the 21-year-old team record in the event. The 106 DCY team participants took first or second in every age group relay and posted more than 40 state qualifying times and 150 personal best times during the meet.

“Our strength in the 100/200 individual medley relays was truly amazing, as we were placing two to four swimmers in the top six of every age group,” said coach Mike McHugh.

The DCY team includes 130 members from northern Door County and Sturgeon Bay competing in preparation for state and national competition.

The Door County YMCA welcomes swimmers of all ages and all abilities to be part of its swim program. To learn more, call 920.743.4949 or 920.868.3660, or visit DoorCountyYMCA.org.
