Destroyers Crush Wildcats

The Door County Destroyers rolled over the Jackson County Wild cats, 56 – 0, in the first game of the Wisconsin State Football League semi-pro season on Aug. 2 at the Baileys Harbor Rec Park.

Quarterback Alex Whitney completed 9 of 11 passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver Andre Wilson caught five passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns, and Jake Wickman rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

The Destroyers’ defense held the Wildcats to two first downs and had six sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Defensive end Bryan Beachler had three sacks and seven tackles, and linebacker Chris LeCloux returned an interception for a touchdown.

The second-year Destroyers are 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Wisconsin State Football League. They play the M&M Timberjacks at noon Saturday at Spies Field in Menominee, Mich.
