Door County Cross Country Ski Report for March 2, 2012

Door County received several inches of very, wet heavy snow on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Our temperatures have mostly remained above freezing so the snow continues to be very wet. We have snow in our forecast over the next several days and will update our ski report if more areas become skiable. Here are the current trail reports for all of Door County:

Potawatomi State Park

Conditions: There are two or three inches of dense snow and slush. Great bushwack skiing. It is too warm to groom the trails right now but we will update our report as conditions change.

Crossroads at Big Creek

Conditions: Trails have not been groomed due to the soft slushy snow conditions and warm temperatures.

Whitefish Dunes State Park

Conditions: Unfortunately, a day of rain spoiled our snow here at Whitefish. Trails are mostly covered with an icy-slushy mixture, with a few bare spots. Trails are not currently groomed and are considered to be in poor condition.

Peninsula State Park

Conditions: Ski trails are not groomed. The snowmobile trails and the sledding hill remain closed. Snowshoe trails are in poor condition due to lack of snow. Some trails are very icy and may have limbs and trees down (please report to park staff).

Newport State Park

Conditions: No report. Presumably there is no skiing.
