Door County Economic Development Corporation Resumes Regular Office Hours

• After a seasonal break, the Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) will resume regular office hours for new and existing business owners in Northern Door County, providing business counseling and entrepreneurial services in Sister Bay. Individual, confidential sessions will be held the second Tuesday of each month, September through December, from 8 am – noon at the Sister Bay Fire Station, located at 2258 Mill Road.

The first date will be Tuesday, September 13. An appointment is requested and can be made by contacting Sam Perlman at 920.743.3113 ext 204 or via email at [email protected]. Walk-ins are also welcome, based on availability.

Perlman is the Economic Development Manager for DCEDC, a position he has held for eight years. His efforts on behalf of local entrepreneurs were recognized by the Wisconsin Innovation Service Center, which named Perlman a 2007 “Wisconsin Innovation Champion Award” winner. He is also Past-President of the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Economic Partnership and a member of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Economic Development Association.

• Renee Benzinger of Sturgeon Bay has joined Golden LivingCenter-Dorchester and its rehab partner, Aegis Therapies, as a speech language pathologist.

Benzinger is a recent graduate of University of Wisconsin – River Falls, where she earned a Master of Science Education degree in communication disorders. At Golden LivingCenter-Dorchester, she will help people of all ages regain their ability to communicate, swallow and become more independent and self-confident.

Speech therapy also addresses people’s capabilities for paying attention to others or tasks without becoming distracted as well as their reading and writing skills.

“In speech therapy, we recognize the need for our residents to return to the healthy and active lives they enjoyed before they were affected by illness, injury or surgery,” said Benzinger.
