Door County Humane Society Featured Pets

Animals continue to arrive at the Door County Humane Society for protection and care, and we are grateful to be seen as a safe refuge for all Door County’s cats and dogs.

Pearl

Precious little Pearl has an unusual story. She was walking with her (assumed) owner when that person detoured into On Deck Clothing on Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, handed her leash to a salesperson, and said, “I can’t take care of her any longer,” and walked quickly out of the store. Pearl was in our hands within the hour – she was hungry and scared, suffering from a painful skin condition. Now this pure white darling girl is ready to be the awesome dog we know she can be with a new family. Pearl is 8 months old, spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped.

Flounder

The 2-for-1 cat adoption special running currently was made for Flub and Flounder. Two cuter longhair brothers would be hard to find, and with two adopted together for $90, they have built-in playmates. These two scamps are Southern Door strays, found along County Road XC in Brussels. They were neutered on Nov. 20, and are ready to jump into your heart for the holidays.

The two-for-one cat adoption special of $90 is still under way, and the dog adoption fee is $150. All animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

The Door County Humane Society has a couple upcoming events on Dec. 7: Pet photos with Santa at Door County Co-op in Sturgeon Bay from 10 am – 1 pm and a tree lighting at Coyote Roadhouse in Baileys Harbor at 6 pm. At the lighting, bring an item to donate to the shelter, enjoy live music and participate in the 50/50 raffle to benefit the shelter. On Dec. 8, 12 – 4 pm, DCHS will hold an open house.
