Door County Named Top Retirement Destination

Door County has been selected as a top retirement destination by Where to Retire, the only magazine in America geared toward helping people with retirement relocation decisions. The county is profiled in the September/October 2018 issue, now available nationwide.

Where to Retire Editor Annette Fuller said Door County possesses qualities important to today’s retirees. “Non-chain restaurants and shops have sprung up to cater to the county’s annual 2 million visitors, and locals benefit. Those who stick it out through snowy, cold winters are treated to storybook small-town Christmas scenes and celebrations. One retiree told our writer, ‘Door County is like the show, Cheers, where everybody knows your name.’”

Where to Retire, now in its 26th year of print, is published six times a year. It has a national circulation of 200,000 and is sold on various newsstands and at Barnes & Noble bookstores.
