Door County Trolley Announces Calendar of Special Winter Events

There is a chill in the air and the scent of roasting chestnuts hints of cozy evenings by a roaring fire. But as the quiet season blankets the peninsula, the Door County Trolley’s bells announce a full schedule of activities and events throughout the holidays and winter season. Meandering the county’s back-roads and byways, the distinctive red trolleys invite guests to share the beauty, traditions, and romance of the peninsula’s 300-year-old history.

As jolly as ole St. Nick, the Door County Trolleys ring in the holidays with a special evening of sweet treats, moonlight, savory delights, and the joyful sounds of the season. “Traditional Holiday Trolley Evening” on Saturday, Dec. 15 will begin when guests are chauffeured to wine tastings at the award-winning Simon Creek Winery and Orchard Country Wineries followed by chocolate samplings at Double Delites. Jack Frost will nip noses on a sleigh ride, but it is sure to be toasty warm in Hands On Art Gallery where dinner will be served. A special gift will accompany each guest home.

As the snowflakes swirl, the Door County Trolley will embark on “A Winter Wonderland Tour” Saturdays beginning Nov. 24 and continuing through March. Board a weather-friendly trolley for a visit to Simon Creek and Orchard Country Wineries. Warmed by one of many varietals, guests will bundle up under a blanket for a sleigh ride, gliding through Door County’s snowy countryside. The Wonderland Tour will conclude with a fireside lunch served at the romantic White Gull Inn.

From beginning to end, the “Progressive Dinner Outing” is a treat for all the senses. Guests will board the Door County Trolley for a surprise destination where hors d’oeuves and cocktails will be served. The Inn at Kristofers in Sister Bay will serve an elegant dinner overlooking Green Bay, the waters reflecting moonlight. A decadent dessert will conclude the evening’s menu served at either the Eagle Harbor Inn or Village Green Lodge.

“Memories are made in Door County and our trolley tours want to be part of creating those memories,” said owner/operator A.J. Frank.
