Door Peninsula Marine Corps League Gathering to Honor ‘Devil Dogs’

The Door Peninsula Marine Corps League will commemorate the 101st anniversary of U.S. Marines engaging German forces in France’s Belleau Wood during World War I and earning the name Devil Dogs.

This gathering – to be held June 8, 12 pm, at American Legion Post 236, 913 6th St. in Algoma – will honor all Marines for their service. Northeastern Wisconsin Marines are encouraged to attend with their families and friends. Food will be available. A grandson of a northeastern Wisconsin survivor of the Battle of Belleau Wood will be available to answer questions about this famous battle.
