Door Property Owners Sponsor Rain Gardens in Ephraim

The Door Property Owners, Inc. will sponsor a program on Rain Gardens on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship building located at 10341 Hwy 42, north Ephraim. The rain garden program will highlight the annual membership meeting of the Door Property Owners. Property owner or not, everyone is invited to the DPO meeting and program and to enjoy a social hour afterwards.

Presenter Karen Sands, a passionate advocate of rain gardens and a land use planner in the Milwaukee area, will speak not only on how individuals can adjust downspouts and paved surfaces to drain into rain gardens but about the cost benefit of municipal rain gardens. The growing awareness of how directly one’s action affects another need not be overwhelming – there are simple affordable voluntary actions that individuals can do to make a difference. Having a rain garden is one of them.
