Eagles Sweep Softball Twin Bill Over Vikings

Southern Door’s softball team swept the Packerland Conference doubleheader it hosted Tuesday against Gibraltar/Washington Island.

The Eagles won the first game in five innings, 11-1.

Southern Door ‘s leading hitters included Chloe Lustila, Ashlyn Delfosse, Tori Marchant and Audrey Plzak with two hits apiece.

Delfosse recorded the pitching victory, while Emilie Glocke picked up the loss for the Vikings.

The Eagles won the second game in four innings, 22-3.

Southern Door’s leading hitters included Delfosse, who had three hits with a grand-slam homer and 5 RBI. Lustila, Sophia Counard and Hailey Veeser added two hits apiece. Alannah Kaye hit a three-run homer. 

Lustila picked up the pitching victory, while Pamela  Prescott recorded the loss for Gibraltar/Washington Island.

The Eagles, who improved to 4-2 in the Packerland, host a non-conference game Thursday against Seymour before they play a league doubleheader Saturday at Peshtigo.

The Vikings, who dropped to 0-8 in the conference, host Peshtigo on May 2.

Pioneers Sweep Clippers

Sevastopol’s softball team limited Sturgeon Bay to a single run en route to winning both games of its home league doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Pioneers won game one, 3-1.

Sevastopol’s leading hitters included Naomi Rikkola batting 2-3 with a run driven in and Johanna Andreae going 2-3 with a double.

Libby Ash recorded the pitching victory, allowing four hits and striking out six.

Annika Schoeneman picked the pitching loss.

Sevastopol won the second game, 9-1.

Addison Schauske allowed four hits and struck out eight in recording the pitching victory.

At the plate, Schauske went 3-4 with a double. Ash, Andreae and Jolene Luedtke added two hits apiece.

Julia Gregory doubled and scored for Sturgeon Bay.

The Pioneers, who improved to 5-3 in the Packerland, play their next conference doubleheader Friday at Kewaunee. 

The Clippers, who dropped to 0-6 in the conference, host a league doubleheader Saturday against Algoma.
