Economics of Solar and Wind Power

Duane Kexel

“Solar and Wind: Disruptive Technologies Whose Time Has Come?” is the subject of the Climate Change Coalition of Door County’s August program, scheduled for 7 pm on Aug. 5 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Duane T. Kexel, global consultant on renewable energy technologies and green economies, will be the speaker. The program is free and open to the public.

Kexel will discuss technology advances, compare the economics of solar and wind power versus conventional generation, contrast Wisconsin’s renewable energy policy with that of Minnesota, and examine CO2 emission reductions, along with costs, in areas of varying renewable energy penetration. He will also address whether solar owners are being subsidized by those using conventional power, or vice versa.

Kexel has 42 years of consulting experience with both domestic and global clients in transportation, water resources and power. He has done national green growth studies in China, Macedonia, Romania and Vietnam for the World Bank and has consulted with the World Bank for 20 years on renewable energy in 14 countries.

The Climate Change Coalition of Door County seeks to transcend partisanship and to voice the care we all have for the natural world. It fosters knowledge and action to address climate change’s challenges and protect the Earth for future generations.
