Ekphrasis Writing Workshop at Miller

In collaboration with Write On, Door County, the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay is presenting Art/Speaks: Writing in Response to Art on March 12, 10:30 am. Part of the museum’s popular Second Thursday Program Series, this ekphrasis workshop will connect writing with the visual arts by inviting participants to write about the emotions evoked by a piece of art, resulting in a cross-pollination between artistic media.

The program is being held in conjunction with the museum’s newest exhibition, Wade in Water, Into the Field: Paintings by Judi Ekholm.

Ekholm’s bold, romantic, Impressionist paintings will serve as inspiration. Write On, Door County representative Francha Barnard will lead the 60-minute activity, guiding participants in writing a poem or prose piece in response to chosen works. Participants may also share their work aloud if they wish. The program is free and open to all, but registration is requested.

Wade in Water, Into the Field will be on display through April 6. To find out more about the exhibit or museum, call 920.746.0707 or visit millerartmuseum.org.
