Ellison Bay Pottery Celebrates “The Magic of Home”

Ellison Bay Pottery and Ella McNeil-Doty, Gibraltar graduate, will host a fundraising pottery exhibit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). “The Magic of Home” opens on Aug. 17 with a party from 5 – 8 pm; the show closes on Aug. 31. Ten percent of sales will be donated to LLS.

Last year, after running the Twin Cities Marathon as a member of LLS’s Team in Training, McNeil-Doty was a victim of a hit and run accident. The ambulance took her to the emergency room quickly but it was several hours before her family was notified. McNeil-Doty suffered a few broken bones, smashed teeth and a moderate traumatic brain injury.

With her persistence and dedication to running and raising money for LLS, she is back to training for this fall’s marathon.

Her parents, Diane McNeil and John Dietrich, potters and owners of Ellison Bay Pottery have created a new exhibit, “The Magic of Home,” to explore what ‘home’ means after a year of helping McNeil-Doty recover.

Members of Team in Training put the names of people they honor and support on their jersey. This year McNeil-Doty will add a local boy to her list, Bo Johnson.
