Emerson Series Features Vocalist

Award-winning Soprano Alisa Jordheim will perform a recital of vocal music including works of Grieg in Norwegian and Sibelius in Swedish on Friday, Dec. 18, 7:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC), Ephraim. She will be accompanied by pianist Judith Jackson.

Jordheim has performed as soloist for two seasons with the International Young Artists Music Festival in Hilton Head, South Carolina, appearing with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. Invited twice to sing on Public Radio International’s From the Top, Jordheim sang two duets with Bobby McFerrin in her most recent appearance. She was soprano soloist in recital at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music in China and sang in a concert of the Lanzhou (China) Symphony.

Erik Eriksson, founder of the UUFDC Emerson Cultural Series, wrote in the Northeast Wisconsin Magazine, February 2, 2008 “Jordheim’s lyric soprano has acquired that measure of quick spin that keeps it rock-steady in all registers. Beyond that, it has taken on a particularly sympathetic quality that lends her art a unique thumbprint, an essential element to setting one apart from the rest of the crowd.”

Jordheim received the Trustee Performance Scholarship at the Lawrence Conservatory of Music and was offered the Juilliard Alumni Scholarship from The Juilliard School in May of 2006. She has studied piano for eleven years, ballet for seven years, cello for three years, and flute for one year.

Tickets are sold at the door at the UU Fellowship, 10341 Hwy. 42, Ephraim. A donation of $10 for adults and $5 for students is suggested. A reception with light refreshments will follow with an opportunity to meet the performers. For more information, visit http://www.uufdc.org.
