Emmett Johns Painting Demo at DCAL Meeting

The versatile and always-entertaining Emmett Johns will surprise the Door County Art League (DCAL) audience at the September meeting with a painting demonstration. The meeting takes place at the Gibraltar Fire Station on County F in Fish Creek on Sept. 24 at 7 pm.

Depending on the weather, mood and phase of the moon, Johns will paint a portrait from life, render a landscape from photos, or create a colorful abstract on the spot.

Johns received the DCAL’s prestigious Master Artist award two years ago. An acclaimed portrait, landscape and abstract pastel and oil painter, his recent work includes a series of paintings of revelers dining, drinking and dancing.

Johns has exhibited his art nationally, including Wisconsin and New Mexico, where he lives and works most of the year. His gallery is located at the Settlement Shops in Fish Creek.

Everyone with an interest in supporting Door County arts is welcome to attend, and admission is free.
