Enjoy the “Taste of the Garden Door” September 11

The Door County Master Gardeners Association will host the “Taste of The Garden Door” and the “4th Annual Pesto Festo” on Saturday, September 11 from 1 – 4 pm. The event will take place at The Garden Door in Sturgeon Bay and is free and open to the public.

“Pesto Festo IV” activities will take place from 1 – 3:30 pm. All members of the community are invited to enter pesto samples that will be judged by both a panel of judges and the public. Pesto samples of approximately 2 1/2 – 3 cups, along with a recipe, should be delivered to the Research Station classroom from 10:30 -11:30 pm. Prizes will be awarded at 3:30 pm. In addition to the pesto tasting, there will be tastings of fresh fruits and vegetables from The Garden Next Door along with grilled vegetables by Pesto Judge Steve Wisniewski.

The event will feature Jane Knaapen Cole from Green Bay, who will offer herb tips to visitors. Door County Master Gardener Volunteer Mary Gehm will also be on hand demonstrating plant pressing and Door County Master Gardener Volunteer Doug Rossberg will provide background acoustic guitar music during the event.

A silent auction of Adirondack chairs, decorated by DCMGA volunteers and other artists, will take place from 1 – 3:45 pm.
