Fall Color Hikes Offered at Crossroads in October

It’s color season at Crossroads at Big Creek. Join a naturalist-led program or explore one of the three Crossroads colorful properties on your own; trails are always open. Admission is free.

On Oct. 7 at 1 pm, learners of all ages are invited to join the naturalist at Crossroads for “Leaves and Light.” Learn about the color/light connection, and bring a camera if you have one. Participants should meet at the Collins Learning Center.

On Oct. 8 at 4:30 pm, get a bit of exercise before the Packer game during the Green and Gold Hike. During this one-hour hike, look for examples of green and gold in nature, while noticing that nature flaunts very little royal blue this time of year (or ever). Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

Another hike is scheduled for Oct. 9, 9 am, at the Ida Bay Preserve. This could be the last stop of a colorful visit to Door County or for locals, a good time to celebrate the beauty of the season at our Ida Bay Preserve. Meet at the parking lot at the intersection of Canal and Buffalo Ridge Trail.

These three programs are free and open to the public.

The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan St., just east of the roundabout in Sturgeon Bay, is open 2 – 4:30 pm daily and during scheduled activities. For maps and information go to crossroadsatbigcreek.org.
