Fiddler’s Green Offers Exotic Fare

Fresh exotic fare is just a ferry ride away. Photo by Sally Slattery

The funky exterior of Fiddler’s Green may beckon you beneath the gigantic antlers and mannequin sailor through the doors to more wildly stimulating décor – animal print furniture, maritime artwork, a bearskin rug – but the fresh, tasty, exotic food served on mismatched plates will keep you in your seat.

Depending on the time of day and the day of the week, owner Kate Kaniff offers everything from sushi rolls to gyros to paninis for vegans, vegetarians, and meat-lovers alike. (And it’s not pricey!)

A personal favorite of mine is the “Mediterranean Delight,” the dish features stuffed grape leaves (fantastic), Kalamata olive hummus (delightful), feisty feta (yes, please), garden feta (beautiful), and curry couscous with raisins. (Where am I? Heaven?)

I savored each bite with a warm pita and a sip of Guinness. Who knew Irish and Greek fare complimented one another so well?

Delicious food aside, Fiddler’s Green offers a great gathering place to grab a beer, some hummus, and conversation. The restaurant also welcomes, promotes, and celebrates local musicians and artists, hosting open jams, concerts, and a gallery space.

Oh yeah, Fiddler’s Green also houses a hair salon. What more do you need in life?
