Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding Receives “Excellence in Safety” Award

The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) announced Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding received SCA’s annual “Excellence in Safety” award. SCA, the national association representing the U.S. shipyard industry, honors companies with annual safety awards for enhancement of operations and promotion of safety and accident prevention.

Through their proactive approaches and dedication to improved safety and health of their employees, Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding and Fincantieri ACE Marine are three of 12 SCA member companies to receive awards for their continued advancement of employee safety in the shipyard industry.

“Shipyards are complex work environments and safety of employees is critical,” said Matthew Paxton, president of the SCA. “Fincantieri’s stellar safety performance in all three yards in 2015 reflect excellent leadership in the shipyards and Fincantieri’s commitment to safety is proven in the data. We’re proud to recognize Fincantieri and the hardworking men and women who reflect the shipyard industry’s culture of safety year after year.”

The awards were presented during the SCA annual meeting in Washington, D.C. on April 14. To learn more, visit shipbuilders.org.
