The Department of Children and Families (DCF) recognized adoptive parents Anne and Mark Schmidt of Waupaca, Wis., and formerly of Door County, by honoring them with the 2013 Governor’s Outstanding Adoptive Parent Award.

Anne and Mark served as foster parents for several years before being asked to provide a set of five biological siblings with a forever home. Recently they were called upon again to adopt a pair of sisters who were in need of a permanent family. For more information, visit dcf.wisconsin.gov and wiadopt.com.
