Four Vines Zinfandel Amador County Maverick 2009

Up in the Sierra Foothills, at elevations from 2000 to 3000 feet is a small area where some popular robust Zinfandels come from. The soils here are made up of decomposed granite and finely crushed volcanic rock. We tasted a gem of a wine from the area that is available for a very reasonable price.

Appearance: dark black purple hue

Aroma: aromas of blackberry and a touch of white pepper

Flavors: plenty of jammy flavors with ripe black cherry and anise notes

Finishing Notes: finishes strong with a touch of rustic earthy flavor, a great value at the price

Perfect Pairing: Very food friendly wine that would pair nicely with any grilled meats, especially a grilled pork tenderloin with a cherry compote.
