Fran Shefchik to Semi-Retire from PortSide Builders

Beginning in January of 2017, Fran Shefchik, founder of PortSide Builders, Inc., will begin his transition into semi-retirement. Shefchik will continue to serve the company as a public relations representative, as well as the chair of the board of directors. Since starting the company in 1977, Shefchik has been an exceptional leader and role model, within the company and throughout the community.

In 2005, wanting to secure the company’s future, Shefchik began the process of converting ownership of PortSide Builders into an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). With the goal of continuing the values that are at the core of the company, he knew that empowering the employees with the pride of ownership and a shared stake in the company’s success, PortSide Builders would continue long after he moved on.

The day-to-day operations of the company will be handled by President Paul Shefchik. PortSide Builders provides new construction and remodeling services for residential and light commercial customers in northeastern Wisconsin.
