Franke Demonstrates at Art League Meeting

On Monday, June 22, 7 pm, at the Gibraltar Fire Department meeting room, David Franke will give a presentation about painting on Yupo paper. Guests are welcome as he demonstrates working with this unique foundation and also shows samples of completed pieces.

Yupo is a synthetic paper, machine-made of 100 percent polypropylene, and is waterproof, stain resistant, and extremely strong and durable. The paper is usually worked on very wet; although, it can be painted using a dry method. The non-absorbent surface resists tearing and buckling and remains perfectly flat, eliminating the need for soaking, stretching, or taping.

Franke uses ink, watercolor, and acrylic on Yupo paper and employs the wet method. He sometimes puts a rubber runner underneath, and he has used a palette knife with acrylic.

The Gibraltar Fire Department is located at 3496 County Road F in Fish Creek. For more information visit http://www.doorcountyartleague.org or call 920.559.7530.
