Free Groceries To Be Distributed in Sturgeon Bay Oct. 3

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and Feeding America of Eastern Wisconsin will be at the NWTC campus in Sturgeon Bay Monday, Oct. 3, from 3 to 5 pm to distribute groceries to residents as part of the annual Dinners on Us program.

A food-filled semi-truck will be at the campus. Each household in attendance will take home one tote bag filled with chicken, pasta and fresh vegetables. Attendees will be able to ask health care questions and receive access to local community resources.

The Dinners on Us partnership between UnitedHealthcare and Feeding America is in its sixth year. Last year, Dinners on Us events distributed more than 3,500 tote bags to attendees, providing enough food to make nearly 57,000 meals. More than $100,000 worth of groceries were distributed at 12 locations.

This year’s program will distribute food in 10 counties – Door, Fond Du Lac, Kenosha, Manitowoc, Outagamie, Racine, Shawano, Sheboygan, Waukesha and Winnebago.

Anyone in need of groceries can stop by to receive free food and access to other community resources. According to Feeding America, 13 percent of the neighborhoods in eastern Wisconsin are food insecure.
