Frozen Spoon Offers Serve-Yourself Yogurt Bar

Luke Collins savors his one-of-a-kind dessert creation at Frozen Spoon.

“We should have a competition to see how many ingredients we can get in here,” says my boyfriend Luke during our first and certainly not last visit to the recently opened Frozen Spoon in Sturgeon Bay. Customers begin the serve-yourself frozen yogurt bar by choosing between two sizes of bowls; we both opted for the smaller size. That’s the easiest decision you will make.

From there, a slew of options await. One may become easily overwhelmed and start loading up their bowl with every flavor, every topping option – it’s best to enter with a game plan. Do you want to go down the fruity route, the chocolate route, or the mix and match route?

I leaned toward the chocolate route. Luke decided on the mix and match route.

First, yogurt flavors: there’s Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel, Orange Creamsicle, Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough, Chocolate Crispy Treat, Birthday Cake, Triple Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Bun, Strawberry Sensation, Tahitian Vanilla, Key Lime Bar, White Chocolate Mousse, and Cheesecake. Heaven. (They swap the flavors in and out frequently!)

I went with a generous helping of Cheesecake, complimented with a squirt of Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel and Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough. I lost track of Luke’s flavor smorgasbord…

Next, toppings: Nerds, M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, Rice Krispies graham crackers, Oreos, pineapple, strawberries, hot fudge, caramel and so much more. I recommend taking a moment to absorb all the options.

I went simple: M&Ms, Oreos, and hot fudge. Luke went crazy: M&Ms, strawberries, chocolate chips, cherries…and that’s just the top layer! He’s the clear winner this round.

Finally, we weighed our creations and ate in silence, in bliss, moaning and mmhmming. And we were not alone: two teenage boys sat at one table, a family of four at another, and three women at another. Frozen yogurt appears to be a favorite of many!
