GBAY, the school-based enterprise at Gibraltar High School, was among 20 school-based enterprises in Wisconsin achieving Gold Level Certification this year and will be recognized at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Fla., the last weekend in April. SBEs can be certified at three levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold. In order to achieve Gold certification interns Hannah Copiskey and Ben Bruns, with the assistance of their adviser Mary Witteborg, submitted extensive documentation that demonstrates their adherence to various marketing and retail standards. DECA’s School-based Enterprise Certification Program was developed to provide recognition for outstanding operations and to motivate SBEs to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. The school-based enterprise at Gibraltar High School has operated for eight years and is to be commended for this achievement.

In addition to the Gold Certification, two juniors, Bradley Prust and Derek Beard, earned top 10 recognition in the Financial Services Team Series at the State DECA Conference last week by medaling in one role-play and achieving high scores.
