Gibraltar Seeking Local Contractors for Renovations

Milwaukee-based construction management firm, CG Schmidt is actively seeking local contractors for additions and renovations to take place at Gibraltar School District. Contractor engagement sessions will be hosted by CG Schmidt Senior Project Manager Tim Bickert and held at Gibraltar High School Library on Tuesday, March 5 at 5 pm. Attending contractors can expect to learn more about phasing details, bidding packages and prequalification requirements.

The project is split into two phases, totaling approximately 75,000 square feet. It includes renovations, safety and security improvements, upgrades to building infrastructure and systems, along with the construction of new classrooms, offices, and a gymnasium. Older sections of the school will be removed and replaced, and site enhancements and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment will take place across the facility.

The project directly supports district goals to support student learning through facility improvement while investing in the larger Door County community. CG Schmidt aims to create local opportunities to strengthen the community by engaging the people and businesses that support the district and allowing access to become an active part of the construction process.

“This is a large and significant project for the district that will have a positive impact on the entire community,” said Bickert. “We’re excited to engage and build new relationships with local contractors and the local workforce, especially as we look towards future opportunities in Door County.”

The first bid package will be released early March with an early April opening and contains six categories: earthwork, demolition, footing and foundations, precast concrete, structural steel and site utilities. The second bid package will be released mid-July with a mid-August opening and will contain all remaining bid packages.
