Going Garbage Recommends Breaking Down Cardboard Boxes

Going Garbage & Recycling has observed a significant increase in packaging materials and cardboard boxes in the recycling stream due to the spike in shipments to homes.

In many cases, the cardboard boxes are not broken down to a size that allows them to fall freely from the carts when they’re dumped, so you may find that your cart is not empty. Drivers are also put at a higher risk of coming in contact with the COVID-19 virus and spreading it throughout the community if they attempt to dislodge the material by hand.

To reduce this risk, please break down your flattened boxes to a size no greater than 24 inches by 24 inches. This will allow materials to fall freely from your cart and eliminate drivers having to handle them by hand. Also remember that no plastic bags are allowed in the recycling.

Going Garbage & Recycling highly recommends setting up auto-pay to limit the risk of spreading the virus through mailed checks. Call 920.854.2114 or email [email protected] if you have questions.
