Grand Opening Event for YMCA Expansion Project

One year after ground was broken for the Door County YMCA’s $10-million-facility expansion, a grand opening will be held for the newly renovated facility on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 11 am to 2 pm. 

The event will feature a short dedication ceremony at 11:15 am to mark the completion of the 16,300-square-foot addition built on the facility’s northeast corner. The dedication will include remarks from community leaders, donors and YMCA representatives. 

Guided tours will then be provided of the state-of-the-art fitness center, youth activity center, program kitchen, updated program areas and improved amenities.


The Sturgeon Bay YMCA Program Center at 1900 Michigan St. has been an integral part of the community for decades, providing a wide range of programs and services to promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The renovation project represents a milestone in the organization’s history and a significant investment in the facility to better serve the needs of YMCA members and the community at large.  

The renovation project was made possible through the generosity of donors, volunteers and community support.
