Great Lakes/Great Books Club Resumes in September

The fifth season of the Great Lakes/Great Books discussion group begins Sept. 6. Presented by Write On, Door County and the Door County Maritime Museum, this program explores books that have a Great Lakes focus, either as subject matter or setting. The free program is presented 10:30 am – 12 pm on the first Thursday of every month, September through May. Discussions are held in the Bridgewater Room of the Door County Maritime Museum, 120 N. Madison Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.

This year’s selections include works of scientific nonfiction, memoir, mystery and historical fiction. Titles are The Hidden History of Sturgeon Bay by local authors Heidi Hodges and Kathy Steebs (September), Death Rides the Ferry by Patricia Skalka (October), The Great Lakes at Ten Miles an Hour by Thomas Shevory (November), Door Way by Norbert Blei (December), The Death and Life of the Great Lakes by Dan Egan (January), Safe from the Sea by Peter Geye (February), North Shore: A Natural History of Minnesota’s Superior Coast by Chel Anderson and Adelheid Fischer (March), Words on Water 2017 by Richard Purinton (April), and Barkskins by E. Annie Proulx (May).
