Habitat for Humanity Helps with Home Repairs

Even though winter weather is not conducive to building a home, Door County Habitat for Humanity (DCHH) construction volunteers are far from idle. On March 13 and 14, two volunteer teams completed home repairs for people who were unable to have them done otherwise.

Greg Dietz and Bill Meyer repaired a ceiling that had been damaged by a leaking roof. After a few follow-up visits, the ceiling is repaired and ready to be painted by the homeowner. Meanwhile, Gary Wemmert, Dan Athorp-Krech, Todd Hansen, Jim Newcomb, Paul Stangel and Don Ziegelbauer replaced a kitchen floor for a woman who had been unable to safely walk across the room.Habitat for Humanity is an international organization that seeks to provide decent, affordable housing to families in need. In addition to building a new home for and with a family each year, DCHH also completes home-repair projects year round through the Home Preservation program.
