Handmade Quilts On Exhibit

Winter Solstice Solace, a display of handmade quilts by fiber artist Vicki Ash, will be on display at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County Art Gallery until Jan. 28.

Ash layers colorful fabrics, thread and beads to create her quilts, taking inspiration from her surroundings and carrying on her family’s long-standing tradition of creating fiber art.

Ash was “born of generations of family who worked with fiber and fabric to warm their family, delight their grandchildren and keep the devil at bay with busy hands,” she said in her artist’s statement. “I do no less.”

The gallery is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1-4 pm, and during 10 am Sunday service and coffee hour.
