Healthy Lifestyles Pool Closes for 2009

The Healthy Lifestyles Cooperative gained 16 Door County business prospects for its 2009 health insurance pool.

The cooperative gathers small business owners together to create a large pool to bargain for better rates from health insurance providers. It began in Green Bay and sought this summer to expand into Door County. Healthy Lifestyles Executive Director Randy Connour toured the county Aug. 12 – 13 to promote the program, now one of the largest health insurers in Brown County, with 3,200 members.

The program was offered to members of the Door County Visitor Bureau and the Door County Economic Development Corporation and was available to any self-employed individual, for-profit or non-profit organization or partnership. Connour said the opportunity will be offered again next August to Door County businesses.
