Heritage Road Policy to be Reviewed

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and
visitors tidbits of information about goings on in town government.

• The board has decided to review the policy regarding when a road will be considered for Heritage Road status. In the past if a road was scheduled for maintenance during the five year rolling maintenance plan the decision was postponed until the scheduled maintenance was completed. The policy will be on the next board agenda.

• The board has approved the dredging of the Ellison Bay marina. Water depths are a concern for boaters attempting to enter or exit the marina in addition to having enough water depths in individual slips. It is hoped this will occur prior to the upgrades scheduled for the marina this spring.

• Installation of a split rail fence at the Grand View Town Park along Highway 42 was postponed until a meeting between the DOT, County Highway Department and Town representatives. “No parking” signs have been installed at the crest of the hill but have not been effective in preventing people from parking along the highway. It is a very dangerous situation. The town and the Liberty Grove Historical Society have agreed to parking on the Historical Society site.

• Ordinance 1-99 was amended to include to include “Blight.” The new ordinance, 1-13, is “ An ordinance regulating outside storage, unsightly premises, hazards and blight.” The town has received numerous complaints in the past regarding several properties.

• The town is asking interested parties to submit their idea for a town logo. Economic Development Committee is seeking suggestions/submissions for a town logo to help identify the Town Of Liberty Grove. Please send to the town office.

• A letter has been sent to the Village of Sister Bay requesting arbitration on the ownership issue of the Waste Water Treatment Facility and the property along Highway 42 south of Ellison Bay that was jointly purchased for the purpose of sludge spreading.

• The town will not object to the placement of a sea gate at the entrance to the Bayview Resort Harbor. The gate will be closed during bad weather to prevent damage to boats in their harbor. A meeting was held with the DNR regarding this proposal and town representatives presented questions and concerns regarding the proposal. While we feel there is a better solution that would benefit additional property owners and docks in Ellison Bay it was decided not to object to the proposal.
