High School Sports: Hoyerman Tosses No-Hitter for Vikings

Eric Hoyerman tossed a no-hitter to lead Gibraltar to a 10-0, six-inning win over Algoma in a Packerland Conference baseball matchup Friday.

Hoyerman struck out six batters and walked only one. He allowed only two Algoma base runners.

“I’ve never had anything close to a no hitter before. This was amazing,” Hoyerman said. “I give a lot of credit to Luke Steebs and the defense in general. All I had to do was put the ball in play and let the defense do their work.”

Spencer Krause had a pair of hits and three RBIs for the Vikings. Andra Szakala and Trevor Reinhardt each had two hits and two RBIs. Alex Laughlin had three hits and Dominic Krauel had two.

In another Packerland Conference game, Peshtigo defeated Sevastopol 6-1.

Sevastopol’s Jacob Pfleiger had two hits, and Jaden Sawyer added a hit. Brent Haberli pitched five innings and struck out six batters.
