Historic Fashion Dinner Program

The Door County Historical Society (DCHS) will host – and Catherine Grota Sahlin will present – its monthly dinner program, “Historic Fashion from the Carrol C. and Dr. Hubert D. Grota Collection,” on Sept. 23, 6 pm, at The Lodge at Leathem Smith.

Sahlin is the granddaughter of the late Dr. H.D. Grota, who practiced medicine in Door County for more than 35 years; and his wife, Carrol, who attended the Chicago Normal School of Physical Education for Women and played on its field hockey team. Her gym bloomers, bathing suit, men’s and women’s clothing and accessories dating back to the late 1800s, and photos of other pieces in the collection will be displayed.

The dinner will be broiled cod, a seven-ounce filet mignon or a combo platter; plus veggies, mashed potatoes, bread, salad and dessert. The cost is $30 per member and $35 per guest. Reserve your spot by the Sept. 16 deadline by mailing payment and your menu choice to the Door County Historical Society, P.O. Box 71, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Contact the DCHS at 920.421.2332 or [email protected] to learn more.
