Third Avenue Playhouse and Riverway Studio presents a world premiere theatrical event – Methuselah’s Guide to Online Dating for Those with Reading Glasses. The play will run June 18 – July 3.
Created by Todd Alan Little and Ira Sakolsky, Methuselah’s Guide to Online Dating gives the audience a glimpse into the lives of four singles as they navigate the online dating scene and share their experiences as they couple and, in some cases, uncouple.
Both Sakolsky and Little are experienced at the online dating game and they are also seasoned performers with credits in theater, TV and film. Their partnership is a winning combination, with both of them being gifted singers, performers, writers and musicians. They will be joined onstage by Becca Atkins, Suzanne Powers and Elijah Manning.
Performances are set for Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $25 general admission and $10 students 15 – 24. The show is not suitable for ages 14 and under.
Sakolsky will also lead two improvisational acting technique workshops at Third Avenue Playhouse. Workshop 1 is set for June 26, 12 – 2 pm, for ages 9 – 12; and Workshop 2 is set for June 27, 12 – 3 pm, for ages 13 – 18.
These workshops are based on the improvisational theater games of Viola Spolin and Paul Sills (co-founder of the Second City in Chicago and originator of the Tony Award-winning Story Theatre). The games allow students to absorb theater skills organically, and help them build natural, alive and dynamic performances. The workshop is designed to develop improvisational acting technique, as well as release imagination and spontaneity in a structured and focused setting. Students are asked to dress comfortably to move. Cost is $15 per student. To register, call 920.743.1760 or stop by the box office at 234 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
