HUMOR

Peninsula Pulse Senior Correspondent Bjorn Bakken reports about the village of Ephraim on a continuing but irregular schedule with emphasis on Town meetings which he cannot always attend. Here is his dispatch filed 1 October, 2008:

The Ephraim Common Council and Fire District Number 1 directors near unanimously decided to drop pursuit of the U.S. Navy’s proposed submarine base for the bay of Green Bay, citing water level measurements which averaged only a few feet of depth. To meet the Navy’s requirements the Eagle Harbor would have to be dredged an additional 47 feet, an effort the Village was unwilling to undertake.

As Councilman Ole Swenson noted, “We’d spend all that dough and when the sailors came ashore, they’d all head for the Sister Bay saloons anyway.”

In other news, Lars Swensen reported his pilot light went out again.
