Invasive Starry Stonewort Presentation at Crossroads

Earlier this year, Starry Stonewort, an aquatic invasive species, was identified in the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal, marking the first finding of this algae in Lake Michigan. Surveys have since found its extent to be spread much further than Sturgeon Bay. The Door County Invasive Species Team welcomes Michelle Nault from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to talk about the finding, what is known about starry stonewort, and what steps are being taken to slow the spread of yet another aquatic invader on Thursday, Oct. 13, 6:30-7:30 pm, at Crossroads at Big Creek – Collins Learning Center, 2041 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay. The presentation will include time for questions and samples will be present to help you learn to identify starry stonewort.
