Isadoora Theatre Company Presents Playwrights’ Collective Festival

Isadoora Theatre Company will host the Playwrights’ Collective Festival Oct. 18-20: a free event that showcases readings of new works by five area playwrights and involves 14 local actors. All readings will take place in the Margaret Lockwood Gallery’s Inside/Out Theatre at 7 S. 2nd Ave. (at Michigan Street) in Sturgeon Bay.

Paulette Laufer, the Playwrights’ Collective’s artistic liaison, started the collective in 2017 after teaching a workshop class in playwriting. She saw a need to create an ongoing opportunity for playwrights to hear their work read aloud – a crucial step in developing plays. The collective meets informally and bimonthly, May through October.

This, its first festival, includes Moby’s Tempest by Bela Sandor on Oct. 18, 7 pm; A Shade of Blue by Tonie Bear on Oct. 19, 7 pm; and several short plays on Oct. 20, starting at 2 pm: Numb and The Adventures of Artemis & Apollo by Tonie Bear, Sweet Child of Mine by Tim Toepel, scenes from I Remember Blue by Margaret Magle, and (Contr)Act 1 from Selling a House by Phyllis Zatlin.
