Isadoora Theatre of Door County Hosts Auditions

Isadoora Theatre Company is hosting auditions for their upcoming production of Waiting for Lefty by Clifford Odets. Directed by Ross Dippel, the play will run from May 13 – 15 and 19 – 22 at the Ephraim Village Hall.

Written in 1935, Waiting for Lefty is loosely based on the New York City taxi cab drivers’ strike of 1934. Consisting of a series of vignettes, the play is framed by the meeting of the cab drivers’ union, which is debating whether or not to go on strike.

Isadoora will no longer present ‘Night, Mother as formerly publicized. “The current issues in our state have prompted a change to our 9th Season closer,” explained Isadoora Artistic Director Mary Hall. “In this time of political turmoil, we feel that the best thing any arts organization can do is foster a creative environment that promotes thoughtful conversation and consideration.”

Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20. Saturday’s auditions will be from 1 – 4:45 pm at the Jane Green Room at the Sturgeon Bay Library. Sunday’s auditions will be from 1 – 5 pm at Bjorklunden Lodge in Baileys Harbor.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script; those auditioning may also present a prepared piece. Everyone is encouraged to audition; there is no need to be present for the entire time slot. Those who cannot attend either audition session may call Isadoora at 920.493.3667 to set up an appointment. For more information visit http://www.facebook.com/isadoora or http://www.isadoora.com.
