Eliza Olson and her adult children. (Left to right) Alger, Everett, Marge, Eliza, Delor, Luella and Ben.

On June 23, the Jacksonport Historical Society will visit with the Charles and Eliza Olson family at the Jacksonport Town Hall. The public is welcome to attend the presentation and learn more about the Olson family history in Jacksonport, dating back to 1920.

Over the century, the Olsons built a Door County legacy in farming, fishing, construction, and hospitality. The family ran the Sunny Beach Tavern in addition to farming, commercial fishing, and shipbuilding.

Vicki Bley is the last remaining Olson of the third generation to live in Jacksonport. Fourth and fifth generation Olsons also remain in the area and the Olson name carries on in Jacksonport’s Olson Cottages. Ben Olson, great grandson of Charles and Eliza will share a retrospective of Jacksonport’s Olson family.

This presentation will begin at 7 pm at the Jacksonport Town Hall located on County V in Jacksonport. Refreshments will be served.
