January Speakers Series Program At Door County Maritime Museum

The next presentation of the 2023-2024 Door County Maritime Museum (DCMM) Maritime Speaker Series will feature The Search for the Linda E, presented by Brennan Christianson, DCMM Collections Coordinator. The presentation will be held in person and online on Jan. 4 at 7 pm.

The program recounts a story that began on Dec. 11, 1998, a calm and sunny day on Lake Michigan, when three experienced commercial anglers – two from Door County – traveled six miles from the Port Washington shore to catch chubs. They never returned and searchers found no trace of the boat – no debris, bodies, or even an oil slick. It was the beginning of the 18-month long search for the Linda E. Join Brennan for the story of this Great Lakes tragedy that continues to resonate to this day.

The Maritime Speaker Series programs are held on the first Thursday of each month, Oct.-May, beginning at 7 pm, on the second floor of the DCMM in Sturgeon Bay, as well as online. There is no cost to attend. A donation of a non-perishable food item is suggested. Online viewers are asked to donate to a local food pantry. The DCMM is located at 120 N. Madison Ave. in Sturgeon Bay.
