Kewaunee County Hosts Back-To-School Program

The Kewaunee County Public Health Department has opened registration for its Back-to-School Program, which helps to provide some of the required school supplies for approximately 300 children of families in need each year.

Families with students attending public or parochial schools, or those who are homeschooled, may pick up a registration form at the Kewaunee County Public Health Department, 810 Lincoln St. in Kewaunee; the Algoma Public Library, 406 Fremont St.; or the Kewaunee Public Library, 822 Juneau St. They may also print one from kewauneeco.org or call the Health Department to request a form by mail. No phone registrations can be accepted.

The registration deadline is Aug. 2. Those who meet the deadline will be first to pick up supplies. Forms received after the deadline will be accepted, but those families will be assigned a later pickup time. A postcard notifying registrants of their assigned pickup time will be mailed about a week before the event.

School supplies will be distributed Aug. 11, 12:30-5 pm, at Lakehaven Hall, 96 Ellis St. in Kewaunee. Those who are not registered but still qualify may go to Lakehaven Hall on Aug. 11, 4:30-5 pm.

Those who wish to support the program may send a check to the Health Department or donate school supplies. Visit kewauneeco.org to learn more.
