Kick Coffee Features Paintings by Bill Roberts

Kick Coffee, located in downtown Sturgeon Bay, opens a new exhibit for the summer with “Land on the Square, Pastel Paintings by Bill Roberts.” The exhibit is bright, fresh, and imaginative.

With pieces such as “Valley of the River of Clouds,” “Over the River and Through the Woods,” and “The 2nd Day,” the viewer is given an opportunity to explore landscapes that began as plein air drawings of various Wisconsin locations. The drawings are then manipulated by Roberts to become places individuals can enjoy and explore in their own minds.

Roberts makes rich and imaginative use of clouds, trees, leaves, and contoured hills. Color explodes from his work in brilliant reds, blues, greens and yellows. The landscapes are all done in a square format – hence, “Land on the Square.”

The exhibit is held in cooperation with the Blue Dolphin House Studio in Ephraim, WI, which represents Roberts in Door County and where many additional works of his may be viewed.

The Kick Coffee exhibit opens July 1 and will be on display through August 31. An artist reception will be held Friday, July 11 from 7 – 9 pm. The public is invited. For more information, visit bluedolphinhouse.com.
