Klaud’s Kitchen Owner Honored with Food Pantry

In the spring of 2017, Klaudia “Klaud” Crawford, the former owner and chef of Klaud’s Kitchen in Sister Bay, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her friends Edee Madsen and Sue Meredith wanted to honor her memory by starting a small, free-standing food pantry, similar to the Little Free Libraries found throughout the county. Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay approved the placement of the pantry by the smaller side entrance to the church, where it’s protected and visible, painted in the lavender colors Klaud loved.

With the season’s colder temperatures, pantry items have been moved inside and now include more canned goods, nonperishable foods, toiletries and knitted winter wear. The doors are open 7 am to 9 pm daily, and everyone in need is welcome and encouraged to use the pantry. Donations are appreciated.
