Lakeshore CAP Needs Volunteers for Point-In-Time Street Count

Lakeshore Community Action Program (CAP) is looking for volunteers for the night of July 27 to assist in conducting the semiannual Point-In-Time Street Count in Door County regarding the homeless population. Communities throughout the United States conduct the count twice annually to gather information on homeless individuals who are staying in places such as parks and abandoned buildings that are not meant for human habitation.

A shift will run in Door and Kewaunee County from 11 pm – 2 am. Volunteers can sign up together as a team or as individuals, although for safety reasons teams are encouraged. Adults are needed who can get out on foot and look for homeless persons. Each team also needs one volunteer driver (with valid car insurance).

To become a volunteer or if you know of areas where homeless persons may be staying, contact Kristina Van Egeren or Kate Markwardt at 682.3737.
