LDC Garden Complete at Boys and Girls Club

The new garden at the Boys & Girls Club of Door County.

Leadership Door County (LDC) Class of 2015 has constructed vegetable gardens at the Boys and Girls Club of Door County (BGC) and the Door County Senior Resource Center (SRC) for their yearlong culminating class project. The gardens will be used for educational purposes as well as for recreation and food sourcing.

The LDC project will introduce, create and grow an intergenerational partnership between these two community groups through gardening education and learning how to maintain the garden together. Children who attend BGC will have firsthand experience learning where their food comes from by growing it in their garden beds.

The public can enjoy the BGC garden during the BGC’s inaugural Artful Garden Walk on Aug. 13 from 10 am to 4 pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour six beautiful local gardens as well as the BGC’s new garden and enjoy art from a number of renowned Door County artists. Tickets are available online for $15 per person. To register and find out more regarding locations and featured artist go to bgcdoorcounty.org.
