Leading the Local Initiative

Door County North (DCN), the business association encompassing the Ellison Bay – Gills Rock region, has announced a Farm & Market Trolley Tour. DCN is continuing their focus on food by giving visitors and residents a chance to see where their food comes from in this behind-the-scenes tour of several local farms and markets.

Scheduled for Sept. 11, the trolley kicks off at Koepsel’s Farm Market. The Door County Trolley Company will transport visitors to Waseda Farms where they will enjoy a hayride through their grounds and then to Door County Creamery’s goat farm and store, and ending at Seaquist Orchards Farm Market, where guests will be able to taste a variety of signature items.

Lunch will be included during the Farm & Market Trolley Tour at Grasse’s Grill where guests will feel right at home eating their quality dishes. Grasse’s Grill puts an emphasis on fresh, homemade foods featuring Door County ingredients, prepared by owner/chef Jimmy Grasse. In addition to lunch, the Farm & Market Trolley Tour will be offering a free tasting of Island Orchard Cider during the ride between visits.

DCN’s Community Coordinator, Darcie Pilz, said, “We are trying to be the leader in the initiative of locally sourced food and refined dining options. We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to give Door County visitors and residents a chance to learn more about local agriculture and see firsthand how their food is grown.”

Reservations are required and tickets are limited so call 920.854.4450 or email [email protected] to reserve your seat on the trolley. Door County North will be providing a large cooler for anyone who wants to make purchases throughout the tour.
