Learn About the Ancient Ocean at DCA

The next screening on the docket for Movies at the Door is West of Thunder on Feb. 7, 7 pm, at Door Community Auditorium (DCA).

This 2012 film is set in the South Dakota Badlands nine years after the massacre at Wounded Knee. The film features an appearance by Door County’s own Ed DiMaio, who will be present for a post-screening Q&A along with the film’s sound director Will Kiser.

Audience members are encouraged to bring coats and blankets to the screening to be donated to the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation.

Rebecca McKean

The following Saturday, Feb. 8, St. Norbert College assistant professor of geology Rebecca McKean will present the lecture “Under the Sea: Fossils from an Ancient Ocean” at 9 am. McKean will speak about the vast ocean that covered parts of Utah about 90 million years ago and the types of fossils it left behind.

The screening and lecture are free to the public, but goodwill donations are accepted. For more information call 920.868.2728 or visit dcauditorium.org.
